WeatherWatch
In May 1999, Seven News launched the Schools WeatherWatch program.
WeatherWatch is an active education program formed by the partnership of the Department of Environment and Conservations' (DEC) AirWatch Program, Channel Seven and affiliated GWN and a network of Western Australian school communities.
Currently, 50 Western Australian schools participate in the WeatherWatch program. Most participating students are between 9 and 15 years of age.
Each week of the school year, students from five WeatherWatch Schools report their local weather conditions through the Channel Seven and GWN nightly weather report.
Using weather stations, students and their teachers watch and report on their local maximum and minimum temperatures and rainfall.
In 2008, the 10 th year of this popular and successful partnership, climate change issues will feature more strongly in the WeatherWatch program.
